On May 23, Frontier Science and Social Co-creation Initiative held ZATSUDAN NO CHIKARA event titled "Talk with Kanazawa University Alumni! Learn from Failure — You'll Never Know Unless You Try! ~Entrepreneurship is not just sparkling!? Real stories from the field~," as part of Project: AERU. It was held at Kakuma campus, and was attended by 10 participants including students, faculty and staff from Kanazawa University.
ZATSUDAN NO CHIKARA is a program that creates opportunities for casual chats between students, faculty and staff, and people in the community. By freely discussing with each other without being restricted by occupation, industry, or position, we hope to help students to develop their careers and generate ideas for faculty, staff, and participating companies.
This time, we welcomed as our guest Mitsuhiko Shirakawa, a Kanazawa University alumnus and CEO of Lullabio Inc., a start-up company from Hiroshima University. At the beginning of the event, Shirakawa spoke frankly about his background from working for a trading company to starting his own business, his current business, and the challenges involved in starting a business.
During the chatting time that followed, participants asked questions such as, "What made you decide to start a business?" and "How do you raise funds to start a business?" Questions came one after another, leading to a lively exchange of opinions.
Participants commented, "I had thought it would be difficult for students to start a business unless they were in the College of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, but I now feel that my future options have expanded," and "It was informative to hear not only the guest's stories but also the thoughts of various participants."
